Monthly Q&A

Monthly Q&A: August 2nd, 2021

✨ I have been wondering about getting my kids to start helping out in the house with very simple chores. I’m not a huge fan of reward charts, but I also don’t have any other ideas about how to convince them of the value of doing something around the house for the betterment of the environment for all of us.

✨ What do I do at the playground when another child is annoying my child and won’t stop?

✨ How do I handle a playdate disagreement?

✨ My child is complaining about their teacher being mean. What do I do?

✨When your husband says to the kids “I’ll check with mom” do the kids really hear “I say yes but if she says no then the answer is no?”
✨How so I parent a strong willed child who has no respect for me and constantly challenges me? He is 7. I feel so defeated. I give consequences and take things away but there has to be a better way.

✨What do you do if your child is tough to motivate with school? When she “feels like it” she does great in school but lately she’s been more difficult to motivate.

✨My 11 year old son drives me crazy. I try talking, kindness, role model, punishing, taking away electronics and he doesn’t want to do homework, brush his teeth, or shower. He talks back, and ignore me.

✨I have a 26 month old and a 9 month old. My 26 month old doesn’t want the baby to be near her or touching anything that she considers hers. When he does she cries, whines, and worst of all hits and bites. I can’t leave them alone together in a room for more than a few seconds before I can hear him struggling or crying. I try to be there to block the hits/kicks but it’s not always possible. I yell No! Her reaction is always to look away and usually leave the room avoiding me altogether. I know she knows she shouldn’t be hurting. What is the best way to react to those behaviors?

✨How do you make sure your children feel seen and heard while there is so much to do; work and household chores?
✨How can I be a good parent when I have a lifetime of unresolved issues aka triggers?
✨What is the best way to handle a FULL BLOWN folder meltdown when the whole body is on the floor, crying and kicking? Better to intervener or let them express and then comfort them?
✨What can I do for myself when I’m exhausted and want time for myself but then when I take a break I feel guilty and miss my child so I shorten my break to get back to her!
